Cook Islands Nursing Council
The Cook Islands Nursing Council is the regulatory authority responsible for the registration of nurses, midwives, and nurse practitioners in the Cook Islands. The Council supports safe, competent, and professional nursing and midwifery practice for the protection of the public.
Our Regulatory Role
The Council maintains the official nursing register, supports registration and annual practicing license processes, and provides guidance on professional standards, scope of practice, CPD, and audit requirements.
Who We Are
The Cook Islands Nursing Council plays an important role in strengthening nursing governance across the Cook Islands. The Council works to ensure that nurses, midwives, and nurse practitioners are appropriately registered, qualified, and accountable to professional standards.
Through its regulatory work, the Council helps protect the public and supports confidence in the nursing and midwifery professions.
What We Do
The Council is responsible for maintaining the nursing register, supporting the registration and renewal process, issuing annual practicing licenses, and providing guidance for safe and competent practice.
The Council also supports professional accountability through standards of practice, continuing professional development requirements, and practice audit processes.
Protecting the public through safe nursing practice
The Council’s work is centred on public protection. By setting registration requirements, maintaining professional standards, and supporting ongoing competence, the Council helps ensure that nursing and midwifery services in the Cook Islands are delivered safely, ethically, and professionally.
